Equipment Inspection Checklist
Purpose: Provide a consistent process for inspecting foam combat equipment before use. All equipment must pass inspection before use. Inspectors will check all items at the start of the event and periodically throughout the day. Any item that fails must be removed from use immediately.
Foam Weapon Inspection
- No exposed core material
- No tears, splits, or damaged foam
- Padding firmly attached throughout
- No hard spots detectable through padding
- Handle secure and intact
- Tip adequately padded
- Overall condition su8itable for combat use
Shield Inspection
- No exposed hard edges
- Straps secure
- Surface free of sharp protrusions
- Safe for blocking
Participant Readiness
- Appropriate, closed-toe footwear
- No loose or dangling jewellery
- No unsafe costume elements (e.g. exposed hard pieces)
- Waiver signed (adults) or youth supervision confirmed
- Participant is hydrated and fit to participate
Inspection Disposition
After inspection, each item or participant will be assigned one of the following outcomes:
Equipment and participant approved for use on the field.
Equipment may return to the field after the deficiency is corrected and
re-inspected.
Equipment removed from use for the remainder of the event.
